OneForProxy is a residential proxy gateway: one hostname,
proxy.oneforproxy.com, that hands out residential exit IPs over HTTP and
SOCKS5. There's no separate product to pick or plan to lock into — you create
a credential, point your HTTP or SOCKS5 client at the gateway, and select
targeting (country, state, city, ASN, sticky sessions) by encoding options
into the username for each request.
Why per-GB billing
Instead of charging per request or per IP, OneForProxy bills for the bytes that actually move through the gateway. A balance in USD is deducted as traffic flows; there's no separate metering unit to reason about, and no surprise cost from retries or large responses beyond what they actually transferred. See Pricing for the current rate per GB and the traffic packages available if you'd rather prepay a block of GB up front.
If you're curious about the mechanics — how bytes are counted, and how a prepaid traffic package interacts with pay-as-you-go balance — see Per-GB billing, explained or the Billing and packages guide. Short version: quota from a package is used first, and your USD balance is only charged once that quota is exhausted.
Rotating or sticky, your choice
By default, every request through the gateway can land on a different exit
IP — useful when you want a fresh identity per request. When you need the
same IP across a sequence of requests (a login flow, a multi-step
checkout, pagination through a site that tracks sessions), add
-session-<id> to the username to pin the IP, and -life-<minutes> to
control how long the pin lasts. Full details, including examples, are in the
Docs and in Rotating vs. sticky sessions.
Getting set up
- Register an account and verify your email.
- Create a credential under Proxies in the dashboard — it gives you a
login like
ofp_0123abcdand a password. - Send a request through the gateway:
curl -x "http://ofp_0123abcd-country-de:PASSWORD@proxy.oneforproxy.com:8080" https://api.ipify.org
That's a rotating German exit IP over HTTP. Swap the port for 1080 and the
scheme for socks5h:// to use SOCKS5 instead.
Where to go next
- The Getting started guide in the knowledge base walks through account creation, credentials and your first request in more detail.
- The Docs page is the full reference: endpoints, the username DSL,
worked examples, sticky sessions, the error table and the
GET /balanceAPI. - Pricing has the per-GB rate and traffic package options.
A few guides to start with:
- Residential vs. datacenter proxies — what actually differs between the two, and how to pick.
- Rotating vs. sticky sessions — when to let the IP change per request and when to pin it.
- Per-GB billing, explained — why usage is billed by bytes instead of by request.
